THE Punjab Highway Patrol claimed that they provided help to 40,000 road users across the Punjab during the first five months of the current year.
According to a handout issued on Monday, the PHP reunited 48 abducted and missing children with their parents. More than 2,300 encroachments had been removed from the roads. The PHP had registered around 1,567 cases of crimes of different nature on highways and arrested 1,381 accused, the handout concluded.
PHP also faced 17 Police encounters with the criminals and captured 36 proclaimed offenders while 72 pistols, revolvers, 175 guns & rifles, 131 magazine, 4 daggers, a sickle, 15654 bullets and 637 cartridges were also seized from illegal possession. PHP also claimed to have recovered 8 stolen cars, a jeep, a truck, 9 motorcycles and a rickshaw.
