ISLAMABAD: About 51 percent development work on the Overseas Pakistanis Foundation (OPF) Housing Society has been completed so far and the contractor has requested for one-year extension in the contract period.
The contract was awarded to the Frontier Works Organization (FWO) at the cost of Rs 2.404 billion (package-1), which started the work on August 8, 2008. The project was to be completed on March 7, 2011. However, up till now only 51 percent development work has been completed. The FWO has requested for extension in contract period upto April next year.
The site of OPF Housing scheme Zone V, Islamabad is situated at a distance of 25 Km from Zero Point and the OPF Board of Governors in its 47th meeting accorded approval of the scheme in February 1994. The size of the scheme is 5000 kanals (625 Acres).
