LAHORE, Sept 12: The governing body of the Lahore Development Authority has withdrawn a recent amendment to clause 5.3-5 (b) of the Building Regulations-2008, restoring it to its original form.

The LDA had earlier amended the clause, making it binding for the owners of commercial buildings to not to cover the entire plot area for the construction of basement for parking purpose.

After restoring the said clause to its previous position the entire plot area can be covered for the construction of basement for parking purpose subject to the provision of reinforced cement concrete (RCC) and piling along all four sides of the plot. However, the structure will remain below the road level.

The decision was taken in a meeting held here at LDA Headquarters on Monday and presided over by district coordination
officer and LDA Chairman Ahad Cheema.

The meeting also discussed various development issues relating to on-going and new residential schemes of the LDA. The meeting decided that the amended clause would be applicable to new housing schemes of the LDA.

The meeting was attended by LDA Vice Chairman Aamir Asgher Dar, Director General Abdul Jabbar Shaheen, Wasa Managing Director Dr Javed Iqbal and other officials concerned.
