Karachi: The annual function of DHA Montessori-I was held here today. Brig (R) Iftikhar Arshad Khan Director Education DHA was the chief guest of the function.
Brig (R) Iftikhar said that the primary goal of a Montessori system is to help children in their formative age to reach their optimum potential in all areas of life. He added that purposeful activities embedded in Montessori syllabus help to promote development of social skills, emotional growth and physical co-ordination of children.
He exhorted the teachers to nurture and develop the emotional intelligence of children with utmost care and devotion. He advised the teachers to handle and groom the young children with love and tenderness. The Director Education reiterated that DHA was committed to providing quality education to the children of the citizens of Karachi in general and the residents of DHA in particular. He added that for this purpose DHA had a chain of educational institutions all performing to the best of the best of their capabilities.
Earlier the Principal of the Institute, Mrs Anjum Saeed in her welcome address said that Montessori education required focusing on development of skills, refinement of senses and formation of a base for personality development. She said that Montessori system meant education for life and it began from the hour of the birth of a child. The young kids beaming with confidence looked spectacular in their colourful costumes. They presented musical rhymes and delightful play ‘The Earth and we are friends’ and ‘You can make a difference’ were two magnificent plays which were highly applauded by the guests.
At the end chief guest distributed prizes amongst the students who excelled in various academic and learning activities. The chief guest announced a donation of Rs. 30,000/- for the school.
