ISLAMABAD China on Saturday reiterated that its engineers would not halt work on the Gwadar project, despite a recent terrorist act in which three Chinese engineers were killed.

“The terrorists will not succeed in their nefarious designs and China will continue to work on the Gwadar project,” a press statement from Pakistan’s Press Information Department quoted Chinese Ambassador to Pakistan Zhang Chunxiang as saying.

The ambassador said this while talking to Federal Minister for Health Muhammad Nasir Khan. While condemning the terrorist act and expressing his deep sorrow, the minister said that such terrorist acts would not damage the friendly ties between the two countries. The minister assured the ambassador that the persons involved in that terrorist act would be arrested and punished in accordance with the law. Three Chinese engineers were killed and several others were injured in a powerful car bomb explosion near Gwadar Port, in Balochistan, on May 3.

During the meeting, both the federal minister and Chinese envoy discussed the use of traditional medicines. “China has made tremendous advancement in traditional medicines and Pakistan also wants to encourage the use of traditional medicines in hospitals,” the minister said. staff report
