Karachi: Commander 5 Corps and President Executive Board DHA Lt. Gen Shahid Iqbal visited DHA’s Main Office here today. He went around the offices, met the DHA officials and gave them strategic directions for enhancing efficiency and efficacy of the organization.
On his arrival to Defence Housing Authority the Corps Commander was received by Administrator DHA Brig Khalid Tirmizi. He latter presided over a meeting of DHA officials in which he was briefed about the different facets and working of Housing Authority.
He directed DHA to ensure a resident-responsive management and to device an inbuilt mechanism in the system for speedy and efficient resolution of residents’ complaints. He also stressed on establishing enhanced communication and interaction with the residents for achieving the goals of healthy, vibrant and efficient civic life.
President Executive Board (PEB) said that provision of secure and safe environments to the residents should be the top most priority of DHA. He asked DHA to device an innovative mechanism for bringing a tangible, pragmatic and realistic improvement in the security conditions in DHA. He further directed DHA to implement the planned security measures in collaboration with residents’ associations at the earliest to reduce the growing incidence of crime and lawlessness in the area.
PEB said that violations of DHA byelaws in building/structure construction should be sensitized and no way out or loop hole should be left for anyone to get the flagrant violation of byelaws regularized. He stressed the need of across the board implementation of byelaws for all and sundry in a transparent manner.
The Corps Commander appreciated the efforts of Administrator DHA for ensuring initiation of uplift projects in Katchi Abadis of CBC to ameliorate the civic problems of these areas. He, however, directed DHA to take tangible measures for improving education and health facilities in Katchi Abadis to give the people of less privileged areas a sense of participation and integration with the neighbouring affluent areas. PEB asked DHA to bring tangible and visible improvement in cleanliness, garbage collection and sanitation in the area.
He asked DHA to build an ongoing mechanism in the system for ensuring neat, clean and aesthetically vibrant environments in the area. He said that the grey area of cleanliness can be addressed successfully through comprehensive and holistic approach with participation and co-operation of the residents. The Corps Commander in his concluding remarks urged DHA management and staff to continue their sustained efforts for achieving higher standards of excellence and to sustain the role of DHA as a trendsetter in the country.
