Lahore: The Lahore Ring Road project has been further delayed due to change of governments thereby increasing the cost to more than Rs. 80 billion, it was learnt.
Started nearly two years back, the project was estimated to be completed by December 2007. However, due to lack of coordination between NESPAK, C&W Department and experts from abroad, the project is still suffering.
Many changes were made to the original master plan of the Ring Road and only 5 packages out of 19 have been completed so far. It is expected that the project would move ahead only after the new government takes some radical steps.
