It is reiterated that DHA is a well regulated and well administered housing enterprise of the country where byelaws are applied on all constructions across the board. DHA’s Vigilance Deptt and Building Control Deptt accordingly keep a vigil and do not allow any irregular construction/irregularity in the area in the overall interest of the community.
There is however no anomaly as alleged regarding paradoxical application of variant byelaws on constructions in different areas. In all fairness new amended byelaws cannot be applied on old constructions carried out earlier i.e before the introduction of new byelaws in Sep’ 2007. This will neither be logical nor a fair proposition.
The allegation made in the report alleging that the lower staff of DHA Vigilance and Building Deptts is involved in a racket under which rogue contractors make unauthorized constructions, that go undetected is simply vague and not substantiated with specific details.
Any thing reported to Building Control Deptt of DHA with details and proof is investigated and stringent disciplinary action is taken against the culprits accordingly. Two wrongs do not make a thing right, therefore, violation of byelaws on the pretext that one’s neighbour has done the same thing cannot be permitted by DHA.
The officers of Building Control Deptt are all qualified, experienced and seasoned civil engineers. The structural engineers are required in CBC where building structure is evaluated while passing the building plans. Moreover the DHA’s work ethos is such that its staff always remains responsive, courteous and most helpful to the residents.
In case some one insists to commit violation of byelaws on any plea he will invariably be checked by DHA staff. The system cannot be compromised or hoodwinked under any pressure.
DHA is a vibrant organization committed to the service of the residents. Let’s not try to destabilize the prevalent regulated, transparent and disciplined system at the altar of somebody’s whims, please.
