Islamabad—Federal Government Employees Housing Foundation (FGEHF) has registered about 20,000 employees under the government’s scheme to provide houses to government servants.
Talking to APP, Director Finance FGEHF Ahmed Taimoor Nasir said on Monday that membership drive was initiated with the prime objective to provide housing units to government employees under government’s ambitious plan.
“The scheme will help overcome housing backlog hitting hard to a significant number of employees for the last several years,” he added.
He said under the scheme, every registered employee would get an opportunity to have a house in the Federal Capital, which has so far remained an elusive dream for many.
Federal government employees in different scales have submitted registration forms with set amount for each category. These forms can be downloaded directly from Ministry’s website where all other related details is also available.
Taimoor said that the registered employees would be able to get plots and apartments or flats of their own choice on ‘first come, first served basis’.
About mechanism of ownership, he said all the newly constructed residences would be disposed of accordingly on the basis of submitted lists and the aspirants would be accommodated on updated lists.
He added that different categories of residences would be handed over to registered employees accordingly, and no one would be left out to avail this opportunity.
To a question, he said no specific deadline was set for submission of registration forms. He said that the organization would continue receiving the forms.
To a question he said, the registered employees would be eligible to get plots in Bahara Kahu and flats in G-13, and along Murree Expressway.
About 3,886 plots would be available in Bahara Kahu, while 2,902, 2,544 flats would be available for employees in G-13 and along Murree Expressway respectively.
Replying to a question about Bahara Kahu project, he said Capital Development Authority (CDA) had not issued licence despite after lapse of one year.
However, the authority granted a licence to Bahria Town in just two days. He also hinted out that concerned ministry was also focusing on public-private partnership for a chain of housing units.
