Advisor to Chief Minister and Lahore Transport Company (LTC) chairman Khawaja Ahmad Hassaan has said that First Urban Bus Transport Company and Foton Bus Company have signed agreements with the LTC for the provision of standardized transport facilities to the citizens.
He said that four hundred new buses would ply city roads and unlawful transport would be eliminated for providing better environment to transporters and commuters next year. The LTC is providing congenial climate for investment in urban transport sector to the transporters, he added.
The LTC chairman was addressing a meeting after signing the agreement between the LTC and First Bus Urban Transport Company and Foton Bus Company at the CMís Secretariat here on Monday.
Managing Director of First Urban Bus Company Nooruddin Ahmad and Chairman Foton Bus Company Perry Blackerby and LTC chief executive JI Kim signed the agreements.
Members of Board of Directors of the LTC Mohsin Latif MPA and Mehr Ishtiaq MPA were also present. LDA director general Abdul Jabbar Shaheen, GM Operations LTC Asad Gillani, GM Finance Adnan Muddassar also participated in the ceremony.
Khawaja Hassan said that the government was fully aware of the peopleís problems regarding transport facilities. He said that the LTC was providing all possible assistance to private transport companies so that the people of city could benefit from the newly introduced system. He said that concrete measures were being taken to provide resources for the refurbishment of the old buses.
He said that new 400 buses would be instrumental in reducing the transport issues in Lahore. He said that system of enforcement was being made effective so that private transport companies could operate in a conducive atmosphere. He said that private transport companies were extending cooperation in implementing various reforms introduced by the government in the urban transport sector.
The First Bus Company managing director said that his company was making a lot of efforts for the provision of better transport facilities to the citizens.
