RAWALPINDI: Punjab Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif has released Rs 880 million from his discretionary funds to all 16 teaching hospitals of the province, including three of Rawalpindi, to provide better medical treatment and free medicines to people. Sources said that Rs 77 million funds had been released collectively to District Headquarters (DHQ) Hospital, Holy Family Hospital and Benazir Bhutto Shaheed Hospital of the city. The principal executive officer of the Rawalpindi teaching hospitals had received the funds, the sources said. They said the DHQ Hospital administration had requested the officer to provide it with Rs 70 million funds, as only the DHQ Hospital in the city had been providing free medicines to patients since August last. They said the CM had directed administrations of the state-run hospitals to provide free medicines to patients. They said some of the hospitals were not providing free medicines to patients on account of their limited budgets. online
