KARACHI: President Malir Bar Association (MBA) Muhammad Ashraf Samoo has demanded of the federal and provincial governments to appoint MBA members as law officers/legal advisers in the government, semi-government and private industries located in the jurisdiction of Malir courts.

This he demanded while addressing a press conference at MBA’s office on Tuesday. He said that several issues, including the allotment of land for Shaheed Benazir Bhutto Cooperative Housing Society (SBBCHS) for the MBA members, were in pending but he would make efforts to resolve the same.

Samoo said Sindh chief minister has sought a report for allotment of land for the SBBCHS.

He further said: “It is a law for all private, government and semi-government industries that they must appoint a legal advisor for their respective industries, but unfortunately 90 percent industries do not comply with the law.”

He said many police stations, including Model Colony, Khokhrapar, Saudabad, Al-Falah, Shahrah-e-Faisal, Gulistan-e-Jauhar and Malir City, which are under the jurisdiction of the City Courts, should be brought in the limits of the Malir Courts.
