Karachi: A representative delegation of Association of Defence Residents (ADR) led by its General Secretary, Mr. Asad Kizalbash called on Administrator DHA Brig Khalid Tirmizi at DHA’s Main Office here today.
Later the delegation attended a meeting chaired by Administrator DHA to discuss ways for improving civic amenities and other facilities for the residents in the area. Concerned DHA/CBC officials also attended the meeting.
He ADR Delegation was also given an in-depth briefing on the rain emergency preparations jointly being made by DHA and CBC to meet any untoward eventuality during the impending monsoon rains. The preparatory measures taken by DHA/CBC include de-silting of all nullahs, cleaning of sump pumps and storage of essential rain emergency equipment/accessories for the emergency. The consultant of recently laid drainage system in DHA, Mr Lakhani categorically stated that there would be no flooding in DHA during the monsoon rains this year. He said that the storm water drains would ensure effective drainage of rain water from all major roads and streets in the area. He however cautioned that there could be localized ponding of one to four inches of water on streets in few localities which would be drained out through an efficient pumping action.
The area of responsibility for rain emergency operation has been divided between DHA and CBC. Other rain emergency measures include earmarking suction pumps/allied equipment alongwith operators for speedy dewatering operation if required and cleaning of all sumps at pumping stations to ensure speedy drainage of water.
Arrangement for cleaning/sweeping of roads after dewatering operation including fumigation of areas has also been made. Rain Emergency Control Centres would overlook and monitor the entire operation.
The delegation was informed that almost all major roads in DHA have been reconstructed/carpeted barring very few including Kh-e-Sehar which would be completed by June 10 ‘2009. Administrator appreciated the monumental contribution of DHA/CBC engineers, consultant and contractors for completing the task of road construction/carpeting effectively.
The delegation was further informed that the modified design of Stadium Commercial Car Parking Plaza project would cater for under ground parking of more than 700 cars while commercial plazas will be built astride the car parking area.
Administrator DHA Brig Khalid Tirmizi asked the DHA/CBC staff to work with utmost commitment, devotion and missionary zeal with a view to serve the residents and to resolve their problems efficiently.
