LAHORE: A doctor allegedly killed his father over a property issue here on Sunday at his Mustafa Town residence in Hanjarwal police precincts. Dr Imran Ahmed gunned down his father Professor Dr Zulfiqar Ahmed (65) at their residence, the police said. According to details, the victim was a professor of Geology at the Bahria University, Islamabad and used to spend the weekend at his Lahore residence. He had been married twice. From the first marriage he had a daughter —a doctor in Canada— and the accused son who was a doctor at Services Hospital. Some years ago he had married again and had no children out of that. It is learnt that when Dr Zulfiqar reached Lahore to spend the weekend, his son Imran asked for money to set up his personal clinic. Both of them exchanged harsh words as Zulfiqar refused to give him money. Imran told his father that he would not let his stepmother have the money which was his right. He forced his stepmother to leave the house, which his father resisted. Imran took out his pistol, shot his father and fled away. He was taken to the hospital, but died on the way. The police have sent the body to the city morgue after legal proceedings. However, no FIR has been registered so far. The police said they have received no application in this regard so far. staff report
