The Capital Development Authority (CDA) will re-develop G-6 sector to provide better accommodation facilities to government employees, a CDA official said on Monday.
He said that the houses were in poor condition and that it was necessary to undertake the re-development in the area.
Under the plan, he said, 4-storey blocks will be built, while private housing units in the sector would remain unaffected.
After a final approval by the competent authorities, the plan will be implemented in phases over a period of five years. “We cannot provide alternative accommodation to the residents living in the government quarters during re-development. Therefore, the plan will be executed in phases,” the official said. The official said government employees currently living in the housing units would be given special incentives to buy flats in the planned blocks.
