ISLAMABAD – The Capital Development Authority (CDA) Friday claimed to have ousted illegal occupiers and vacated 3,500 kanals of the CDA land, which was in possession of various land grabbers in Islamabad.
Over 2,000 kanals of the CDA land was vacated in Sector I-12 alone on Friday, an official said. CDA Director General Planning, Ghulam Sarwar Sindhu and Director Enforcement, Muhammad Ramzan Joya led the Friday operation for vacation of the land, he added. A large-scale crackdown was started a week ago against scores of illegal occupants of the land across the capital city of Islamabad. However, no organised resistance from land grabbers was reported so far.
Chairman CDA Imtiaz Inayat Elahi is overseeing the ongoing operation personally and made frequent visits to different sites where the operation for ending illegal possession of land is in progress.
He also directed the CDA enforcement teams to expedite the operation for vacating the land owed by CDA in the light of the decision of the Supreme Court of Pakistan.
In continuation of the operation, CDA Enforcement teams got vacated vast chunks of land in Sector I-12 from illegal occupation and also demolished various illegal buildings there. The chairman CDA also directed Enforcement Directorate that the operation should be across the board and no concession whatsoever would be given to anyone in this regard. He said that CDA is setting up pickets in the area after getting possession of the land.
The chairman appreciated the efforts of the Enforcement Team and cooperation of the ICT administration and police. He said that Supreme Court is being kept informed about the progress in this connection. He said that a coordination committee consisting of the representatives of ICT administration, police and CDA are monitoring the development.
Elahi said that the development in the city in a planned manner is the basic responsibility of CDA and it would concentrate on development issue of the land is settled.
He said that he would appeal to the people who illegally possess the plots to extend cooperation and vacate the land to prevent any untoward incident by creating any sort of confrontation with CDA teams, which are in the field to take over the possession of the acquired land.
