LAHORE: Singer Ibrarul Haq conducted a door-to-door campaign on Monday to raise funds for the internally displaced persons (IDPs).
He started his fund-raising campaign from Regal Chowk, The Mall, which ended at the Fortress Stadium at night.
Talking to Dawn, Haq said Sahara for Life always came forward to help out the people facing hard times.
‘This time too, it has come out for the displaced people of Swat. We are setting up camps in Lahore and 10 other districts to raise funds for the displaced people,’ he said.
He said Sahara would set up a camp for the IDPs near Mardan. The camps in the districts would be looked after by the young lot of Sahara’s youth parliament, he added.
He said: ‘I am going door to door to raise funds and the people are offering generous donations.’
Asked about his expected fund, Ibrar said: ‘He is trying to raise at least Rs2 million.’ People from different walks of life made their contribution.
