Islamabad: Kamran Lashari assumed charge as federal secretary housing and works after the Establishment Division issued a notification of his appointment here on Wednesday following approval by the prime minister.
Sources said that Federal Minister for Housing and Works Makhdoom Syed Faisal Saleh Hayat requested the prime minister to appoint former CDA chairman Kamran Lashari as secretary of his ministry. “I requested the prime minister that I need services of no bureaucrat other than Kamran Lashari as secretary of the ministry in view of challenges being faced by this sector,” Syed Faisal Saleh Hayat confirmed to ‘The News’ when contacted.
Faisal said that a visionary and proactive approach is required to solve problems in the housing sector. “The potential and talent hidden in the seasoned bureaucrat should not go waste,” he said, adding that every resident of Islamabad is well aware of Lashari’s performance as the CDA head.
It may be recalled here that it was the then interior minister Syed Faisal Saleh Hayat who brought Kamran Lashari from Punjab government to get him appointed as the CDA chairman in 2003. Lashari went on to head the civic body of Islamabad for five years while executing some unprecedented development activity in upgradation and creation of new recreational sites and new road infrastructure, mainly construction of 7th and 9th avenues.
