LAHORE: Karachi Electric Supply Company Chief Executive Officer (CEO) Naveed Ismael has said about 25 percent of Karachi’s electricity is stolen every month, a private TV channel reported on Saturday.
Ismael said electricity theft and line losses were the main cause of power breakdowns in Karachi. The CEO said about 10 percent of the electricity was being wasted due to line losses. He appealed to the people of Karachi to identify power thieves and help the company remove illegal connections. “We are conducting a massive disconnection drive across Karachi and on average 50,000 to 60,000 illegal connections are being disconnected every month,” he added.
