LAHORE, Feb 13: The Lahore Development Authority has warned the business community against constructing, installing and operating industrial units in residential schemes in the LDA-controlled area.

“It is an unlawful act and those involved in illegal industrial activities within LDA’s jurisdiction will be dealt sternly under the law,” an LDA spokesman warned in a statement issued here on Monday.

He said the LDA had started a survey to identify the industrial units illegally established in the areas under its control. He urged the people to cooperate with LDA officials concerned for the sake of their own safety and to avoid occurrence of deadly accidents as a result of factories being run in residential areas.

The spokesman also requested the citizens to inform the LDA about boilers, gas cylinders and other explosive instruments and industries installed in residential areas in LDA’s control.

The complainants may contact LDA’s commercialisation director on telephone numbers 042-99262321 or 0322-8888475 or email him at dir.comm.lda@gmail.com, he added.
