Traffic Engineering and Transport Planning Agency (TEPA) of the Lahore Development Authority (LDA) will execute project of widening and improvement of Main Boulevard, New Garden Town, from Kalma Chowk to Canal Bridge through Y-junction within three months at a cost of Rs. 309 million.

This was decision in the governing body meeting of the LDA here on Saturday. The meeting was chaired by District Co-ordination Officer and Chairman LDA Ahad Khan Cheema, and attended by Director General Abdul Jabbar Shaheen, Additional Director General (Head Quarters) Hafiz Ihsan-U-Haq, Chief Engineer TEPA Saif Ur Rahman and representatives of the provincial local government, housing, planning and development and finance departments besides administrators of the nine constituent towns of the City District Lahore.

The meeting was told that Main Boulevard Garden Town was a very important link connecting the housing schemes & educational institutions in the city.

Due to enormous increase in traffic, the present road structure needed improvement and capacity enhancement by widening the main carriageways and service roads.

The governing body also issued directions for immediately carrying out repair of the Model Town Link Road. The meeting also decided to take up the matter of shifting of electric transformers from green belts with LESCO.

The meeting endorsed constitution of a committee by the senior member/ member (Revenue), Boards of Revenue, Punjab for assessment of the cost of land and compensation of structure. The committee will be headed by Additional Director General (Housing) LDA and other members will include Executive District Officer (Revenue), Lahore, Director Operation, Lahore Ring Road and Land Acquisition Collector, LDA.
