The Lahore Development Authority (LDA) has started acquiring two pieces of land covering an area of 50,000 and 25,000 kanals on the Raiwind and Ferozepur roads to establish two new residential colonies.
LDA officials told Daily Times that the 50,000 kanals piece was situated at Ferozepur Road touching the Hydera Drain, Railway Lines and Soway Asal, while the 25,000 kanals piece of land covered the Raiwind Khana Road and railway station.
They said the land would be acquired from private parties through the Land Acquisition Act 1894. They added that according to the act, the government could buy the land from its owners on DC rate or get the land”s possession from the owners and return it to them after development when they paid the development share.
Talking to Daily Times, the LDA”s chief metropolitan officer said that though the initial stage of the work had started, the project would take time for its completion. City Nazim Mian Amir Mehmood on Wednesday ordered authorities to establish especial education centres in the city”s five towns: Wagha, Aziz Bhatti, Shalimar, Nishtar and Ravi Town.
Mehmood issued the orders while reviewing the monthly performance of the district administration. Mehmood also directed the officials concerned to ensure the issuance of health cards to daily-wagers at restaurants and hotels after their thorough medical check-up. He said the cards would be valid for six months and should be a requirement for employment at the eateries.
The district coordination officer (DCO), senior officials of the LDA, WASA and the executive district officers of various departments also attended the meeting.
