ISLAMABAD, Jan 29 (APP):The government keeping in view the residential problems of working women would build hostels in major cities of the country.Initially, the facilities would be provided in Islamabad, Lahore and Karachi, said an official of Ministery for Women Development while talking to APP.The ministry has already acquired two plots from the Capital Development Authority(CDA) for the purpose. The ground-breaking ceremony of the women hostel would be performed soon.
The ministry was in contact with the administration of hostels already operating in different areas aimed at finalizing a comprehensive strategy after getting accurate ‘need-assessment’ for the purpose.
A conducive atmosphere would be ensured for working women at the hostels and the ministry would welcome private sector if it wanted to join the project.
To a question he said 10 percent job quota has been allocated for women in government departments so that they could play their role in development and prosperity of the country.
The ministry has launched 19 projects for the welfare of women all over the country at a cost of Rs. 420.034 million since March 2008.
Besides, the women ministry has established nine Shaheed Benazir Bhutto Women Development Centers in earthquake affected areas of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and Azad Jammu and Kashmir in collaboration with Earthquake Reconstruction and Rehabilitation Authority.
