LAHORE, Feb 19: Punjab Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif says infrastructure is of great importance for rapid development and the provincial government is spending billions of rupees on various projects in this regard.
“We are ensuring provision of a network of roads, bridges, flyovers and underpasses for providing excellent traveling facilities to the masses,” the CM said while inspecting the ongoing construction work at Muslim Town flyover project (Ferozepur Road) here on Sunday.
Accompanied by Lahore Commissioner Jawad Rafique Malik, DCO Ahad Cheema, LDA DG Abdul Jabar Shaheen and local MPAs, the chief minister said transparency, quality construction and timely completion of development projects were the hallmark of the Punjab government. “The Kalma Chowk Flyover Project is one of the examples of our objectives and similarly this flyover will definitely reduce the public miseries regarding traffic congestion on Ferozepur Road.”
Shahbaz said he would inaugurate Muslim Town flyover on March 23. He directed the DCO to identify a suitable piece of land for constructing a parking plaza on Ferozepur Road for the convenience of people and traders. He also ordered constituting a supervisory committee for ensuring timely completion of Muslim Town project. The CM also asked the Lahore chief traffic police officer to ensure smooth traffic flow.
Earlier, the Parks and Horticulture Authority director general gave a presentation to the chief minister about greenbelts along the flyovers. Communication and Works Secretary Azam Suleman briefed the CM about the ongoing construction work. He said the project would be unique so far as quality construction was concerned.
