LAHORE: Punjab Chief Minister (CM) Shahbaz Sharif presided over a meeting held at the CM’s Secretariat to review the pace of implementation of the land record computerisation project. The CM said the project had been pending since long and the government had promised its early completion to rid people of the existing archaic land record system and to minimise the role of Revenue Department officials. He said the completion of the land record computerisation project would facilitate the acquiring of property records and eliminate forgery in the registration of properties. He said computerisation of land records would ensure transparency in the registration of properties and curb the activities of the land mafia, who deprive people of their properties through forgery. He also directed the authorities concerned to negotiate with experts in order to reduce the timeframe for the completion of this project.
