Ministry of commerce operationalized Afghan Transit Trade via Gwadar Port under APTTA 2010. Shipments for Sugar, Fertilizers and Wheat will be transported in sealed trucks to Afghanistan. 16000 MT DAP and WFP cargo 500,000 MT Wheat for Afghanistan will arrive next month. Ships from China will also offload at Gwadar Port.
This permission is given for the sake of efficient and cost effective operationalization of the Gwadar Port and Western Corridor of the CPEC, the import of Afghan Bulk Cargo Wheat, Sugar & Fertilizers at the Gwadar Port and onward transit to Afghanistan shall be permitted in bonded carrier, insured and sealable trucks having a tracking device installed on them. The Custom Authorities are also instructed to take necessary and cost efficient measures to ensure the en route security of the cargo.
This fulfil the long standing request of the business community and shipping industry, paving the way of generating business opportunities and employments both in Gwadar and along with CPEC Route. This move will also jumpstart port operations in Gwadar and will create the necessary eco-system for another big seas port of Pakistan.
